Nana Mouskouri, born October 13, 1934 – Greek songstress.
Nana Mouskouri was born on the isle of Crete (Chania). Her father was
Cretan and her mother came from Corfu. Two years after Nana’s birth
the family moved to Athens (Koukaki). Nana has a sister, Jenny, who’s
two years older. Nana has two children as well from her first marriage
with George Petsilas; Nikolas, born 1968 and Eleni, born in 1970. The
couple divorced 1976. In the year 2003 Nana re-married her producer, André
Chapelle. Nana lives in Greece, Geneva and Paris. In 1993 Nana became
goodwill ambassador for UNICEF. From 1994 till 1998 she was member of
the European Parliament. Nana sung more than 1350 songs and received over
300 golden and platinum records and awards.
In September 2004 Mouskouri, back then 69 years of age, announced to quit
show business after a world tour that ends in 2008. Nana hopes to give
the final concert in her home country (Greece) Athens.
